Homemade Beef Stew

Made with 🖤 by: Johnnie

Here's a stovetop homemade beef stew recipe. It's perfect on its own or served over biscuits. Swap the beef for lamb, and you've got a classic Irish stew! For a thicker consistency, add more cornstarch or simmer uncovered for the last 15-20 minutes. The longer it cooks, the richer the flavor. Feel free to adjust the herbs to suit your preference.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned.
  2. Dissolve bouillon in 4 cups of water, then add to the pot along with rosemary, parsley, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, and onion.
  3. Dissolve cornstarch in cold water and stir into the stew. Cover and simmer until the beef is tender, approximately 1 hour.
